ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for iPod touch 2G, 3G (Full Body) Review

Here’s the deal. Everybody on here that is complaining about bubbles and how hard the install is, and nobody has suggested an alternative. I purchased this thing from best buy for 25 USD, and then I had them install the full body shield for 15 dollars. They guarantee their work meaning if you are unhappy with their install after a couple days and there are bubbles you are welcome to return the item, and get refunds, this helps with Zagg CS trying to tell you they wont cover improper installs, and it just looks better then most people can do. Granted not every best buy employee is any good at installing, but if you are smart you can ask that the most experienced associate install for you and 99% of the time they’ll help you out.
As for the product itself, it’s great. It does add a different sort of texture to the touch, “tacky” is a good word, little thicker, not quite as smooth (instead of gliding your finger will ever so slightly catch, but you get used to this), but when paired with a case it’s a pretty great setup since you don’t have to worry about the corners not being completely covered.
All in all I’ve been very happy with the performance of this product, it definitely adds a sense of security and removes any bit of worry from putting your ipod in even the most cramped pockets.

Awesome product with a mild flaw – A. Griffiths – Chesapeake, VA
I read a great deal about this product before buying it. I followed the directions to the T. However, no matter how much I tried I had two corners that just did not want to stick to my iPod. So over the period of a few days the dust in my pocket bonded with the adhesive that was supposed to hold it to the my iPod. Now I have two small dog ears of plastic dangling from the device. Otherwise it is doing an incredible job at protecting the screen and the stainless back panel from any scratches.
Good, but lacking. – Matt Horning – Wichita, Kansas United States
Let me preface this by saying I don’t actually own the Invisible Shield for the iPod touch, but I do own the one for my phone (Sprint HTC Touch Pro2). Other than the size and cut, the material and installation methods are identical, which is why I’m writing this review.
Pros:
*Once on (correctly), it does make my device look shiny and new, which is pretty nice.
*It’s slightly tacky to the touch, which makes a slippery device significantly easier to hold on to.
*The screen protector doesn’t really interfere with input.
*The small air bubbles DO work themselves out.
Cons:
*Installation is tough if you’re a perfectionist. I installed the oddly cut back cover to mine first, and was able to get it on without too much trouble. I had a large air bubble on the back, so I peeled a corner up, and then squeegeed down the air bubble and the rest of the cover back into place. The problem is, where I stopped peeling up the cover, there’s a line now. I have a feeling if I tried peeling it up to fix the line, I’d just make it worse.
*The front cover wasn’t exactly sized, but it was pretty close. When I installed it though, a small piece of debris got trapped under it. I tried peeling it up again and scraping it off with my fingernail, but ended up marring the protector and turning it slightly opaque (and still didn’t get rid of the debris).
*Scratch-proof is a bit of a stretch. In the demo video, they take a fork to the back of the iPod and it comes out completely unscathed. I lightly scratched the front of my phone with a key and it left permanent scratches on the cover. It wasn’t even a sharp key! Since then, I haven’t done anymore “stress testing” but it’s developed several other scratches (from what, I don’t know).
To sum it up, it’s a good cover, but it doesn’t completely live up to the hype.
Works Great If You Can Install It – C. Boushley – Glendale, Arizona United States
Works great, but installing it just right is pretty difficult especially on the corners. I would suggest going to your nearest mall and getting the magic shield from the guys at the kiosk there since they’ll install it for you.
Save your money go with clear case instead – vespa boy – New York, NY
Alright, I’m one of those guys who hate having cases for this beautiful device so I thought I would buy this product and protect my ipod from daily scratches.
First, the installation process is a pain, really. it says the bubbles go away after 24hours, yeah most of them, but some of them will still be there and it does not look nice at all when you look at it.
Second, if you really care about the look of your ipod, this plastic cover is everything but nice
Last, if you also buy one of those pouches to insert your ipod in, forget about it. the plastic will stick against the side of the pouch. it took me 30min and i almost ruined my ipod by trying to remove it from the pouch.
I ended up removing this stupid plastic after 2 days and finally bought a clear plastic cover that clips on the back of the ipod. it is almost invisible, protects the ipod against scratches, really neat.
